The Best Coffee Table Design
Find the best coffee table suits your home style base on the rules of the design

Choosing the best coffee table that complements your home style is one of the hardest things to do when designing your home. Since they're usually placed in the center of the living room and are considered to be a focal point for the sofas, they need to be chosen with more precision. And most importantly it's where you use it when watching TV. You also need to put your mobile phone, magazine, drink, and remote control in a nice place.

Personally, I think choosing the coffee table is the most fun part of designing a living room after the sofa. But there are so many beautiful coffee tables, it may be difficult to pick out just one.

Here are some guidelines to narrow your options and finally pick the best coffee table which goes well with your home's style of design.

Golden ratio

When it comes to coffee tables best sizes, at least one-half the length of your sofa would be fine, but not longer than the sofa itself. The perfect ratio would be three-fourths or two-thirds. And the height of the table should be even with the height of the sofa seat give or take a few inches.

If you have a sofa with the chase, the table is better to be two-thirds or one-half of the horizontal seat. Or if your sofa is an L-shaped sectional sofa it goes with one-half to two-thirds the length of the seat is the perfect sizing.

The shape of the table

One other rule of design is Unity or harmony. It says the elements in a good artwork have harmony in color and shape with each other. Try to choose the coffee table among the tables which have harmony with the side tables and other tables in your home.

Oval Coffee Tables

You can go for oval shape table if it matches the sofa in terms of size.

Rectangular Coffee Tables

Consider this type of coffee table if you have a standard sofa or an extra-long sofa with a chaise, so it'd be more accessible from all seats of the sofa. But if you have kids at home it's better to go for no-edges coffee tables.

Round Coffee Tables

Round objects in design can induce a friendly feeling to the viewer and make your home warmer. You may take a round table if most elements in your home have a round shape, it will create a feeling of unity.

Again, sharp edges aren't so good for homes with kids! so the round table can be a good option if you have kids.

Square Coffee Tables

If you have a symmetrical living room area or have a sectional or the traditional conversational set up with a sofa, a square coffee table can be the best choice.

Color of the table

To follow the unity role of the design, try to consider the dominant color of your home. If most of the things in your home have a bright color choose a bright color coffee table. Or you can just choose a table which complements the sofa. If the sofa has smooth edges take a table in round or oval shape.
